It has been a fantastic week this week with announcements totalling $7.8 million dollars in funding received by clients.  

In applying for the grant, one project included the development of a business case including payback periods and quantifying community outcomes and impacts.  

The second project was a collaboration with an associate - Megan from Seed Business Solutions which delivered a community needs assessment and feasibility study.  

But that's just our work - the level of committment, time and energy of the volunteer boards and their community supporters expended in getting these projects funded and advocating for them was really inspiring and this success is testament to their investment!

 In NSW you must obtain an 'Authority to Fundraise' if you are fundraising for a charitable purpose under the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991.   Although there are a few exemptions discussed on the next page.

Fundraising for a charitable purpose is quite broad under the Act and essential means where you are seeking public money, property or any other benefit to be put towards a charitable purpose.  If you are fundraising for another organisation then they must also hold an authority (if required).

That’s the question I wondered if my community of followers and readers wanted to know this week when a previous workshop attendee reached out to me for my feedback on theirs. She emailed me an example of what they had come up with and said “we want to improve on previous fund raising activities by having a catchy Mission Statement” and here it is:

“To promote literacy and the enjoyment of literature, and to encourage creativity and diversity in local story arts, through community engagement with celebrated authors and illustrators.”
